Sarah Glaser, Research Associate at Secure Fisheries, presented her research on fisheries in Lake Victoria to the annual meeting of the American Fisheries Society (AFS). The AFS is a professional society of fisheries scientists and managers.
This year’s meeting took place in Kansas City from August 21 – 25, 2016. Dr. Glaser’s presentation, Farming an Invasive Species: Challenges and Benefits of Rapidly Expanding Cage Aquaculture in Lake Victoria, focused on the trade-offs between wild and farmed fish in this region of East Africa. This project is supported by a grant from the Coupled Natural and Human Systems program at the National Science Foundation.
